Google Chrome Web Browser
Chrome.exe is the Windows launcher for Google Chrome. It starts the browser, manages multiple child processes for each tab, extension, and renderer, and coordinates updates, security checks, and GPU tasks. It should reside in the Google Chrome installation folder and be signed by Google. If you see it elsewhere, investigate authenticity.
Chrome uses a multi‑process architecture: chrome.exe launches renderer, site isolation, and helper processes to isolate web content. This improves stability and security, but means many chrome.exe instances may run concurrently, consuming memory and CPU as you browse and interact with sites.
