DaVinci Resolve - Resolve Executable
resolve.exe is the main host process for Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve. It starts Resolve, then coordinates UI, media I/O, GPU-accelerated color processing, caching, and render pipelines. It may spawn helper processes for decoding, Fusion effects, and plugin execution as needed by your project.
As the central host, resolve.exe launches Resolve modules, communicates with the GPU driver, handles timelines and media caching, and oversees render tasks. It can spawn auxiliary processes for decoding and plugins; this is expected behavior in a full Resolve workflow.
Reasons it's running:
Yes, resolve.exe is the legitimate DaVinci Resolve launcher installed by Blackmagic Design. Verify it runs from the official program path.
It can only be malicious if it runs from an unexpected path or lacks a valid signature. Always verify path, signature, and hash.
DaVinci Resolve performs heavy editing, color processing, and rendering; high usage is expected during playback, effects, or export tasks.
Disable the startup entry in Task Manager or adjust Resolve preferences to disable auto-launch.
Update Resolve and GPU drivers, check project integrity, review logs in AppData, and remove problematic plugins.
Typically under C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\resolve.exe or C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Resolve\resolve.exe depending on version.
