Brain-Notify Notification Engine
Brain-notify is a dedicated background notification engine that coordinates BrainCompute platform alerts, reminders, and status prompts. It runs quietly in the operating system, subscribing to event streams and delivering toasts or banners based on user preferences. It is designed for low resource use and minimal user disruption while ensuring timely awareness of important brain events.
Brain-notify runs as a low-priority service that maintains a persistent connection to BrainCompute notification endpoints (WebSocket/HTTP backoff). It processes inbound events, formats prompts, and queues local notifications through the OS notification system, with retry logic and per-user settings.
Brain-notify is a legitimate BrainCompute component designed to deliver timely notifications about brain compute events, reminders, and system statuses. It operates as a background service or daemon with explicit user consent requirements, and respects OS-level notification permissions. When installed from BrainCompute channels, it uses standard Windows/macOS/Linux APIs for notifications, encryption for server communication, and configurable opt-out options. Properly installed, brain-notify does not access personal data beyond notification payloads; it adheres to default privacy settings and enterprise policies.
Brain-notify is not a virus when obtained from trusted BrainCompute sources and installed via official channels. If you encounter a file named brain-notify.exe from an unknown path or with an unexpected digital signature, treat it as suspicious and verify its origin. Always verify via digital signatures, file hashes, and vendor documentation, and run a full malware scan if anything looks off. Mislabeling or masquerading is possible with rogue variants, so verification is essential.
Red Flags: Unexpected file location (e.g., temp or user Downloads), invalid digital signature, mismatched hash, unusual network activity, or frequent prompts for elevated permissions indicate a potential rogue variant and require immediate investigation.
