Araxis Launch Helper
araxis-launch-helper.exe is a lightweight companion process used by Araxis Merge to coordinate external launch operations. It handles file path translation, temporary file setup and cleanup, and spawns the correct merge/diff session on demand, then exits to keep the main GUI responsive.
Technically, the helper runs in user mode, accepts command line arguments from editors or the main Araxis app, and launches the appropriate merge session with the specified files. It does not modify source files directly and relies on IPC to return results.
araxis-launch-helper.exe is a legitimate, digitally signed component from Araxis Ltd. It is designed to be a lightweight launcher used during external diff/merge sessions and is normally installed with Araxis Merge. When obtained from the official installer, it runs under the Araxis publisher and should be located in the Araxis program folder. If you installed Araxis Merge from araxis.com, this file belongs to the standard product suite and is not inherently risky.
In a typical, legitimate installation, araxis-launch-helper.exe is not a virus; it is part of Araxis Merge. However, malware can impersonate legitimate executables. If you did not install Araxis Merge or if the file appears outside the standard install path, perform checks promptly. Verify the digital signature, location, and publisher, and run a full malware scan. Do not ignore unexpected behavior.
Red Flags: If araxis-launch-helper.exe is located outside of C:\Program Files\Araxis\ or is unsigned, or runs without Araxis Merge installed, treat with suspicion and scan immediately.
